Measurement of particle beam intensity distribution versus time (=measurement of the bunch-structure at a RF-accelerator).
Principle of measurement:
The bunches are stopped on the inner conductor of a beam stopper, which is part of a matched coaxial transmission line. The current-signal is transferred (bandwidth 2GHz) to the following broadband signal-processing system.
For the suppression of secondary particles, influenced fields and for the shielding against RF-noise a grid in front of the beam stopper is provided.
The coaxial Faraday cup can be moved into the beam by means of a compressed air actuated linear vacuum feedthrough.
