Aschermittwoch – Herring dinner at NTG

A tradition that brings us together 🐟

It has been a tradition for many years: on Aschermittwoch, herring is served in the NTG canteen.

On February 18, it was that time againβ€”a small, simple tradition that means so much. We took a break from work for a moment, ate together, laughed, and enjoyed each other’s company.

Because in the end, it always turns out that
food brings people together. 🀝

Faraday Cup

Manufacturing update: Faraday Cup
Designed for reliable beam current measurements in high vacuum, the assembly is pneumatically actuated via a high-vacuum feedthrough and features active water cooling for stable operation under thermal load.
A key manufacturing step is the vacuum brazing of the copper cooling section in a vacuum furnace, ensuring high-quality joints, excellent heat transfer, and long-term reliability in UHV conditions.
This project highlights our capabilities in precision fabrication, joining technologies, and build-to-spec components for accelerator and vacuum applications. We’re happy to connect with teams looking for robust UHV hardware and thermal solutions.

Small part. Huge performance – EBPM Buttons

Small part. Huge performance. ⚑️
These EBPM button pick-ups are built for ultra-high vacuum (UHV) and clean, stable RF signals β€” even after bakeout up to 250 Β°C.

What makes them special:
βœ… UHV-tight design (very low leak / outgassing targets)
βœ… Electrical isolation between pin and body for reliable measurements
βœ… 3.5 mm coax interface compatible with IEEE STD 287
βœ… Precision geometry & finish for repeatable performance

The soldering is done in a controlled soldering oven process for consistent joints and reproducible quality. πŸ”₯

πŸš€ Our Trade Show Preview for 2026!

This year, NTG will be represented at two major international trade shows in the optics and laser industry – we look forward to connecting with you in person!

πŸ”Ή OPTATEC | Frankfurt am Main * 05. – 07. May 2026
OPTATEC is one of the leading international trade fairs for optical technologies, components, and systems. It brings together experts from industry and research, providing the perfect platform for innovations in photonics, optics, and precision technologies. Our goal is to strengthen existing customer relationships, generate new project inquiries, and collaborate with developers and decision-makers on innovative applications and future requirements. Our IBF systems offer an excellent solution for ultra-precise optical surface processing, especially when the highest levels of form accuracy and surface quality are required.

πŸ”Ή Laser World of Photonics China | Shanghai * 18. – 20. March 2026
As a central trade fair for laser, optics, and photonics technologies in Asia, Laser World of Photonics China brings together international exhibitors, new applications, and cutting-edge technologies – a key meeting point for the global market. By participating, NTG strengthens its international presence in the Asian market, identifies new business opportunities, detects technological trends early, and expands dialogue with OEMs, system integrators, and technology partners.

Beam Catcher – FAIR Project

Good news from the FAIR project: NTG is manufacturing the beam catchers for the Super-FRS (Super Fragment Separator) – a key instrument in the NUSTAR experiments. The beam catchers ensure that the residual beam is safely intercepted at the end of the separation line and that the separator can provide rare isotopes for research.

Update: Two of the three beam catchers are about to be delivered – an important milestone for our team and FAIR.

We are proud to contribute to tomorrow’s cutting-edge research with precision made by NTG.
